The Nationwide Multistate Licensing System (NMLS) is the system state agencies use to license and register mortgage loan originators (MLOs). To become a licensed MLO you must complete NMLS-approved pre-licensing education, pass the SAFE MLO exam, and satisfy your state's specific requirements.
Our webinar pre-licensing and prep courses are delivered under NMLS provider standards. Your course completion is reported to NMLS on your behalf so it credits your license record.
Continuing Education (CE) is the annual education NMLS requires to keep an active MLO license in good standing. Professional Education (PE) is optional advanced training to grow your skills and career. Both catalogs are launching soon — join our notify list and we'll email you the moment enrollment opens.
Yes. Every prospective MLO must complete 20 hours of NMLS-approved pre-licensing education before sitting for the SAFE MLO exam. Some states require additional state-specific hours on top of the 20-hour national course — check your state's requirements or ask us if you're not sure.
The 20-Hour NMLS Pre-Licensing course is the core requirement — the exact hours NMLS demands to qualify for the exam.
The Three-Week Prep Course is a paced program built to help first-time students absorb the material more gradually, with structured weekly sessions and time between them to review.
Pre-licensing satisfies the NMLS education requirement so you can sit for the SAFE MLO exam. Exam Prep is focused on passing — targeted review, practice questions, and test-taking strategies to boost your confidence before test day.

They aren't required, but they pair directly with the coursework. The book gives you a plain-language reference you'll keep long after you're licensed, and the workbook drills you on the concepts with practice exercises. Most students find they get the most value from combining both.
Both are available on Amazon. Head to our Book & Workbook page for direct links.
